 With more than twenty years of experience, Joanna has a particular passion for supporting children and adolescents facing academic, relational, and emotional challenges. As a seasoned teacher and certified life coach, Joanna combines her diverse skills to provide compassionate and effective support. Currently, Joanna is completing her Master of Science in Counseling/Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Phoenix. She is practicing as a Counseling Intern under the supervision of Laura Beth Peterson. Joanna’s dedication to helping young individuals thrive makes her a valuable addition to our team.

Joanna Stephens is a Counseling Intern and brings more than twenty years of experience working with children, teens, and young adults in both professional and ministry settings.

 

Joanna utilizes the following types of therapy:

  • CBT, a widely used and evidence-based form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors.
  • DBT, a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that emphasizes the psychosocial aspects of treatment.

  • ACT, a type of therapy that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior-change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility.
